Now that you've checked out the tech companies above and viewed all the jobs they're hiring for, do you think you'd want to apply for some? If so, here's how to prepare for a tech interview.
1. Research the company before the interview
Nothing says, "I want this job and I am passionate about your company," like doing your research and coming prepared to the interview. How will your skills help the company solve a specific problem? Your knowledge of the company will come through in your answers to interview questions. This will impress the hiring manager and help you stand out from the competition.
2. Explain how you'll add value to the company
What will you bring to the position? You are a business-of-one, so what services can you provide that will help the company achieve its goals? Show the hiring manager how you plan to save or make the company money. If you do this, you're guaranteed to move to the top of the job candidates list.
3. Demonstrate your innovative and creative abilities
Being innovative and creative is a must in the tech industry. Have you worked on a project or two where your ideas were an integral part of its success? Did you come up with a creative solution to a problem that was costing the company a lot of money? Always back up your examples with quantifiable facts!
4. Show the areas that you want to grow and develop
A great way to answer interview questions, especially behavioral interview questions, is by using the "Experience + Learn = Grow" model. When asked about your weaknesses or how you hope to develop your career, talk about those things honestly. Then, mention what you've already learned in the process of improving yourself as a professional and growing your career.
5. Provide examples of how you excel in a team environment
Collaboration is an important skill to have in the tech industry. Provide examples in your interview of times when you've positively contributed to a team. What do you like most about working in a collaborative environment? How do you like to add value when working on a team?
